A Day in the Life...

So I was watching an America's Next Top Model marathon on MTV this afternoon and I saw something truly amazing. This happened to be Season 5 (for all those ANTM junkies out there...), in which Cassandra, the 19 year old pageant girl from Houston, TX, left the show because they wanted to cut her hair an inch shorter. Pictorial evidence below...As you can see she went from miles of hair to just mere inches. After the second elimination, Tyra asked that Cassandra shear one inch more from her do, a la Mia Pharo in Rosemary's Baby. However, when the time came for the deed, Cassandra flatly refused and quit the show, saying she felt they were trying to change her too much. At the moment I felt the most respect I have ever felt for someone on that show. She stood up for personal beliefs and took a stand against an industry based on making everyone look the same. So I would like to applaud Cassandra for standing up for what's right! Way to go!!

In the elimination follow Cassandra's departure, Tyra Banks chastised Cassandra saying she hadn't shown she had what it takes to survive in the modeling business. This coming from the woman who at every turn in her career has fought the stereo type of what a model should be. For shame Tyra!

Other random ramblings:
-Please please please please PLEASE check out the following bands!!

I saw all these bands (and a few more) at KTCL's Big Gig a couple weeks ago. They were truly amazing!! I'm a huge fan of supporting local music, so get out there and get to concerts early in order to see the opening bands. You might just find a diamond in the rough.

-On Monday I'm going to Projekt Revolution featuring: Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday, HIM, Placebo, Julien-K, Mindless Self Indulgence, Saosin, Styles of Beyond, The Bled, and Medina Lake. I'm so excited about this concert, I can't even put it in words...I've been a Linkin Park fan since Hybrid Theory was released October 20, 2000. When people ask me who my favorite band is, Linkin Park is the answer. They have written the story of my life into each and every one of their albums. In the 7 years I've been a fan, I've NEVER seen them live and I can hardly wait. My seats aren't great, but really the point is, I'm going to see them in person............

-I've just come back from a trip to California. It was one of the greatest trips of my life. I had a blast the entire time, with very little drama. I took 434 pictures over the course of 8 days...I spent and entire day in Disneyland...I got the worst sunburn of my life after being in the ocean for two hours, but it was worth it!

Now I'm tired...so good night!
